A fragrance of cool, resinous aromatic clarity above and deep, dark, earthy warmth below, Cedar Malaki is a composition of exceptional balance and quietly commanding authority.

The opening is cool, resinous, and immediately distinguished: Cypress the tall, dark, aromatic conifer of the Mediterranean landscape, with its distinctive dry, resinous, slightly smoky-green character that has been associated with solemnity and permanence since antiquity opens with a crisp, cool, resinous authority that perfectly anticipates the cedar heart to come. Cardamom adds its warm, slightly eucalyptus-spiced, green aromatic richness one of perfumery’s most elegantly versatile spices, here adding Eastern warmth with complete refinement. Artemisia the silvery, slightly bitter herb of the wormwood family, with its wild, almost absinthe-like aromatic complexity introduces a quietly untamed herbal edge. Grapefruit lifts the accord with clean, vivid citrus freshness; and Lavender adds its timeless, warm, herbal-aromatic depth an opening of five materials, each adding a precise, necessary dimension to a composition of real aromatic authority.

The heart is a cedar study of extraordinary focus and beauty: Atlas Cedar from the Atlas Mountains of Morocco and Algeria, considered among the finest and most prized cedars in perfumery, with its distinctive warm, slightly sweet, pencil-shaving woodiness of great refinement forms the luminous, warm core of the composition alongside Cedar, its broader, drier, more structural counterpart. Two cedars, each contributing a different facet of the same magnificent wood warm and cool, sweet and dry, refined and grounded creating a cedar heart of depth and complexity that a single cedar note could never achieve alone.

The dry-down is dark, earthy, and magnificently rich: Cypriol Oil (Nagarmotha) the smoky, earthy, intensely aromatic oil of the Cyperus scariosus sedge grass, native to India, with its distinctive smoky, woody, slightly vetiver-like depth and the particular dark, almost petrichor quality that makes it one of niche perfumery’s most prized and distinctive raw materials grounds the cedar with a dark, naturalistic smokiness of great beauty. Labdanum adds its warm, animalic, balsamic Mediterranean resinous depth; Patchouli contributes its characteristic dark, earthy richness; and Tonka Bean closes with its warm, almond-vanilla, coumarinic softness a base of four exceptional materials that gives Cedar Malaki its long, dark, enduringly beautiful dry-down.
