Ylang Ambrato by Gucci is a 2025 Oriental Vanilla Eau de Parfum for women and men composed by perfumer Jean-Christophe Hérault. The opening is bright and immediately multi-dimensional: the sharp, crackling heat of Black Pepper ignites the composition with vivid, spiced energy, while the honeyed, white floral warmth of Neroli adds its refined, slightly metallic luminosity, and Bergamot lifts the accord with its characteristic sparkling citrus clarity. It is an opening of elegant tension the clean brightness of citrus and neroli held against the dark promise of what is to come.

The heart is where Ylang Ambrato reveals its most intoxicating and beautiful dimension: Ylang Ylang the tropical flower of the Cananga odorata tree, native to the Philippines and Indonesia, with its famously heady, narcotic, slightly rubbery-banana floral richness  blooms at the centre with full, unapologetic intensity. Tonka Bean wraps the ylang in its characteristic almond-vanilla, slightly coumarinic warmth, softening the tropical headiness into something deeply sensual and skin-close. Benzoin adds its rich, vanilla-balsamic sweetness, and Pimento Leaf the aromatic leaf of the allspice tree, with its warm, clove-like, slightly eucalyptus character adds a quietly exotic, spiced complexity that keeps the heart vivid, surprising, and alive.

The dry-down is dark, smoky, and magnificently deep: Tobacco adds its warm, slightly sweet, dried-leaf richness not harsh but deeply comforting, the tobacco of aged pipe blends and golden afternoon light. Labdanum contributes its warm, animalic, Mediterranean resinous depth; Opoponax the sweet myrrh, a resin of the Commiphora erythraea tree with a distinctive warm, sweet, slightly vanilla-balsamic character that is softer and more honeyed than standard myrrh adds a luscious, golden balsamic warmth. Tolu Balsam the rare South American resin with its warm cinnamon-vanilla facets deepens the balsamic richness further, and Oak grounds the entire composition with dry, slightly smoky, forest-floor depth a base of extraordinary complexity and exceptional longevity.
